Hello Everyone! And Welcome to another "PiP Blogger!"
I had a wonderful time photographing Allison and Donovan's Pre Wedding Engagement shoot right in the heart of Oxford City Centre. It's such a great place for photography with sites like The Radcliffe Camera, The Bodleian Library, The Golden Cross walk undercover market (a personal favourite), The Bridge of Sighs, Queen Street and many more interesting places! So put a happy, fun and amazingly dressed couple into the centre of that and you have a brilliant combination.
Here are a few words from Allison on how they met, how Donovan proposed (which is very romantic) and a little bit about Allisons outfit which I thought you girls especially might like:
"We met at an academic conference at the University of Chester when we were grad students. For both of us, it was our first trip overseas. We joke that we had to travel all the way to the UK to meet a fellow Canadian! We were friends for a few years first and then dated long distance, while I was studying in Toronto and Donovan was working outside of Philadelphia. Given where we met, it's fitting that Donovan's career has brought us back to the UK to start our life together.
Donovan proposed nearly two years to the day we started dating. His parents had secretly shipped his grandmother's heirloom engagement ring over from Canada, completely unbeknownst to me, and he'd been carrying it around in his coat pocket, waiting for the right moment. On our way home one night, Donovan got down on one knee on the cobblestones in Radcliffe Square, with St. Mary the Virgin on one side and the Camera on the other, all lit up in the evening. Despite it being Burns Night and tons of people about, the square was somehow all ours in that moment. We took a week to just savour it before telling everyone. ;)
Our wedding will take place in August of this year, back in Toronto so that our family and friends can attend. Oxford is just so gorgeous and the UK has been a big part of our story as a couple so we wanted to have our engagement shoot done here
My dress came from a little stall in Camden Market and my shoes are from Payless which is a large North American chain. My octopus necklace is from Kinship of Oxford, a lovely, independent online shop that does regular pop-up stalls in pubs around Oxford" :http://www.kinshipofoxford.com/
